Cook with your hands in the food, not on a screen

miniChef reads a recipe out loud, one step at a time, and listens for you. Say “Hey miniChef, next” and it moves on. No wiping your hands to scroll.

How it works

  1. Open any recipe and press “Cook with me”The green button on the recipe. It works in the app and in a browser — anything with a microphone.
  2. It reads the first step aloudIngredients and timings first, then step one. You can keep the screen on for the whole session, or let it sleep and just listen.
  3. Talk to it while you cookSay “Hey miniChef” and then what you want. It answers out loud and writes the same thing on screen, so nothing is lost if a pan is louder than you are.
  4. Ask it things a recipe does not sayHow much is a “knob” of butter, what to use instead of buttermilk, whether the onions are supposed to be this dark yet.

What you can say

Hey miniChef, nextMove to the next step
Hey miniChef, againRead that step once more
Hey miniChef, timerStart a timer for the step you are on
Hey miniChef, stop talkingSilence, but keep the session
Hey miniChef, stopEnd the session
Hey miniChef, …Ask anything else — it is a conversation, not a menu

The wake phrase stays “Hey miniChef” in every language. A wake word has to be one fixed sound for the recogniser to listen for, so it is deliberately not translated.
