Cheese rolls

Easy and tasty cheese rolls, suitable for breakfast or a light dinner.

Cheese rolls

Ingredients

160 g cheese
300 g flour
250 g yogurt
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt

Method

  1. In a large bowl, beat 2 eggs with 1 teaspoon of salt.
  2. Add 250 g of yogurt and 1 teaspoon of baking soda to the eggs. Stir well until the baking soda is completely dissolved.
  3. Gradually add 300 g of flour to the liquid mixture, stirring with a spoon or spatula until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Sprinkle the work surface with a little flour and transfer the dough onto it. Knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. If it is too sticky, add a little more flour, 1 tablespoon at a time.
  5. Divide the dough into 16 equal balls. Roll each ball into a circle about 3-4 mm thick.
  6. Take two circles and place 1/5 of the crumbled cheese (about 10 g) in the center of one of them.
  7. Moisten the edges of the other circle with a little water and place it over the cheese.
  8. Press the edges of the two circles well to seal them. You can use a fork or your fingers to make a decorative edge.
  9. Repeat the steps with the remaining dough balls and cheese until you get 8 double rolls.
  10. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  11. Brush each roll with the reserved egg yolk for a golden color.
  12. Arrange the rolls in a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between them.
  13. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown.
  14. Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
